The 2020 Policy Summit is Going Virtual

ASGCT Staff - July 02, 2020

From the comfort and safety of your home, you can virtually participate in discussions on regulatory, government relations, market access, and ethical issues related to gene and cell therapy.

Join us September 23-25 for the virtual ASGCT Policy Summit! ASGCT is putting together an exciting 2.5 days of discussions on key policy challenges and opportunities in the development of, access to, and responsible use of gene and cell therapies. Here are our confirmed keynote speakers:

George Q. Daley, M.D., Ph.D.
Dean and Caroline Shields Walker Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School
Science Advocacy: From Stem Cells to COVID

Dr. Daley will be the keynote speaker on Wednesday, September 23. He has been been engaged in scientific advocacy for more than two decades, promoting fundamental biomedical research to serve the public good. Dr. Daley will relate his personal experiences interacting with policymakers, the media, and the public, and reflect upon the unfortunate politicization of science and the need for a return to reason in public discourse.

Peter Marks, M.D., Ph.D.
Director of the FDA Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER)
Streamlining Development: Parent-Child and Platform Programs

Dr. Marks will be the morning keynote speaker on Thursday, September 24. He has worked in academic settings teaching and caring for patients and in industry on drug development. He joined the FDA in 2012 as Deputy Center Director for CBER and became Center Director in January 2016.

Michelle McMurry-Heath, M.D., Ph.D.
President and CEO of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO)
Science as Social Justice, Scientists as Crusaders for Truth

Dr. McMurry-Heath will be the afternoon keynote speaker on Thursday, September 24. The common thread in her work across academia, government, and industry has been her focus on broadening access to scientific progress so more patients from diverse backgrounds can benefit from cutting-edge innovation.

Please check back on our website for more details on speakers, the program agenda, sponsorship, and more. Registration will open later this month.
