Why do you want to be a mentor?

I had superb mentors who helped me understand and navigate career paths, and I feel it is important for all of us to help younger generations achieve their true potential.

As a mentor, what are you hoping to gain from this experience?

I mentored several people and always found our interactions enriching.  I learned a lot and have gotten the satisfaction of seeing several careers flourish!

Provide a biography that describes who you are and what you do in the field of gene and/or cell therapy.

I studied Pharmacy and Biochemistry at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. I got my Ph.D. from NYU, and worked for >15 yr in Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering and at Merck. In 2006 I led efforts to build an RNA Therapeutic team at Merck, where I was responsible for identification and optimization of siRNAs and delivery vehicles, advancement of pre-clinical candidates, and development of an siRNA-conjugate platform to expand the repertoire of tissues accessible to in vivo siRNA delivery. I am passionate about advancing genetic medicines to help patients!
