ASGCT Announces New Mission Statement, Website Domain, and Logo
MILWAUKEE - The American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy (ASGCT) Board of Directors recently approved a new mission statement and goals for ASGCT. The new mission statement and goals were revised by the ASGCT Advisory Council and approved by the ASGCT Board of Directors in light of the Society’s addition of Cell Therapy to its name.
“The revised Mission Statement of the Society”, stated Dr. John Rossi, chair of the ASGCT Advisory Council, “more clearly describes the Society goals of fostering research, development and applications of cellular and genetic therapies, and our commitment to promoting education of the public about these goals.”
In addition to modifying the mission statement and goals of ASGCT, the Board of Directors also approved a new website for the Society, www.geneandcelltherapy.org. The former website, www.asgt.org, will still remain under ASGCT’s ownership. Visitors to www.asgt.org will be redirected to www.geneandcelltherapy.org.
“These changes,” commented Dr. Barrie Carter, ASGCT President-Elect, “in the Society’s name mission statement, logo and domain name reflect a forward thinking and progressive approach as well as recognize the historical synergy between gene and cell therapy. The changes are intended to signify and emphasize the inclusivity of the Society and its greatly expanded scope, especially that of our membership and Annual meeting.”
The Society’s revised mission statement and goals as well as the new logo are featured on the ASGCT website. The American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy (ASGCT) is a professional non-profit medical and scientific organization dedicated to the understanding, development and application of genetic and cellular therapies and the promotion of professional and public education in the field.
