Letter of Invitation

Ken CornettaDear Colleagues:

It is my pleasure to invite you to participate in two exciting ASGCT Programs: the Gene and Cell Therapy Clinical Trials Training Course and the 13th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy. Both programs will take place in at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, DC, USA beginning May 17 and ending in the evening of May 22, 2010.

The Training Course will feature programs to guide investigators in the development of INDs for the FDA in clinical translational trials and the review process at the OBA in NIH. Every Junior Investigator will walk away from the program with insights and resources vital to initiating a clinical trial.

The Annual Meeting will once again feature cutting edge research from the bench to the bedside. The ASGCT Committees have organized a program that features advancements in all areas of our field, from genetic vaccines, to hematopoietic cell gene therapy, from musculo-skeletal diseases, to diseases of the heart and lung.

I also encourage you to attend the Education Sessions on Wednesday, May 19th. Both experienced scientists and trainees will find the sessions informative. Experienced scientists will add a new dimension to their research portfolio and trainees will gain broader knowledge of our vast field.

Of course, the Society will hold oral and poster abstract sessions on each day of the Annual Meeting as well as multiple plenary lectures. This year, I am honored to announce that Dr. Hal Broxmeyer will deliver the George Stamatoyannopoulos on Understanding and Enhancing Stem/Progenitor Cell Function and Engraftment. Drs. Jean Bennett and David Williams will present during the Presidential Symposium along with the 2010 Outstanding Achievement Award Winner, Dr. Katherine High.

Thank you to all the ASGCT Members who helped form these programs and I look forward to seeing you in Washington, DC.

Sincerely,

Ken Cornetta, MD
President, American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy
